- Two agreements have been signed between Promálaga and EOI that will allow the development of entrepreneurship itineraries and training and capacity-building actions aimed at the creation and consolidation of technology-based business initiatives
- The actions include measures aimed at young people and early-stage innovators, contributing to the strengthening of the productive fabric and the development of strategic sectors with high added value
The Malaga City Council, through Promálaga, and the School of Industrial Organization (EOI), a state public sector entity attached to the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, have joined forces to promote entrepreneurship and training for employment within the framework of Núcleo, the Semiconductor Innovation Hub.
To this end, they are implementing two agreements signed between both entities: one for training and another for entrepreneurship in the microelectronics and semiconductor industry, which will be developed at the Núcleo facilities, located in Málaga TechPark, in the Promálaga Coworking building.
It's worth noting that these facilities represent pioneering equipment aligned with the promotion and positioning of Málaga as a leading ecosystem for innovation and development in microelectronics. This new space, managed by Promálaga, will be linked to the future installation of the IMEC (Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre), also in the technology park. IMEC is one of the world's most advanced microelectronics and nanotechnology centers, and will be establishing its first center outside of Belgium in Málaga.
In both projects, co-financed by the European Union, Promálaga will collaborate with EOI in recruiting students/beneficiaries, providing infrastructure and equipment for the development of professional activities, and promoting and disseminating the programs.
The activities covered by the two agreements include entrepreneurship itineraries and free training courses and are estimated to benefit around 300 people.
Furthermore, they represent a total investment of 888.000 euros, with municipal contributions through Promálaga, and contributions from EOI under the operational program of the European Social Fund (ESF+) and the Ministry of Industry and Tourism.
The councillor for Innovation, Digitalization and Investment Attraction, Alicia Izquierdo, and the general director of EOI, Diego Crescente de Antonio, held a meeting this week, within the framework of the Mobile World Congress, in which the progress of the first editions of the two programs that are already underway has been shared.
Itineraries to promote entrepreneurship in the microelectronics and semiconductor industry (coworking)
On the one hand, the agreement relating to entrepreneurship, called 'Itineraries to promote entrepreneurship and support services for entrepreneurship (coworking)' in the microelectronics and semiconductor industry in Andalusia, aims to carry out itineraries to promote entrepreneurship, including all phases: advice on the preparation of business plans, support in the processing, monitoring and accompaniment to achieve the creation of companies within the EOI Coworking Spaces program.
Four independent sessions combining group and individual work will be held within a collaborative workspace. The program is aimed at innovative entrepreneurs with early-stage business projects who are motivated and committed to the program, as well as unemployed and inactive individuals residing in Andalusia who wish to enhance their skills and abilities to launch their own business ventures.
The total number of beneficiaries of this project is estimated at 80 entrepreneurs, and the selection process will be carried out through a public call for applications.
Likewise, each edition will include a free coworking space for each entrepreneurial project, collective training with workshops and group training sessions, individual mentoring for entrepreneurial projects, and events to promote the networking.
Promotion of youth employment
On the other hand, the training agreement aims to improve access to employment and activation measures for all job seekers, and in particular, young people, especially through the Youth Guarantee application, the long-term unemployed and disadvantaged groups in the labor market and inactive people, as well as through the promotion of self-employment and the social economy.
The purpose of the agreement is to contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment through specialized training in microelectronics and semiconductors, enabling young people to access higher quality and higher value-added jobs.
To this end, specific training courses in digital talent and new professions will be offered, and activities will be included in re-skilling from strategic sectors that are seeing how technology is changing the skills needed.
Twelve editions of these programs are planned, each lasting three months, with a total estimated beneficiaries of 204 entrepreneurs.
The target audience for these training programs will always be young people under 30 years of age (between 16 and 29 years old) who are registered with the National Youth Guarantee System. These young people will preferably reside in Andalusia and are seeking to improve their skills in information technology, digital literacy, the social, circular, and green economy, and relevant training for strategic sectors where the use of technology necessitates acquiring these types of qualifications. The selection process will be conducted through a public call for applications.

The deadline for registering for the different editions will be announced through the EOI website (www.eoi.es) and in the Core itself.
