The Trade Fair and Congress Centre hosts the awards ceremony for the municipal educational program 'Entrepreneurial Culture', in which more than 1.400 students have participated.

The Trade Fair and Congress Center (FYCMA) hosted this morning the awards ceremony for the winning projects of the latest edition of the municipal educational program 'Entrepreneurial Culture,' organized by the Education Department of the Malaga City Council, the Municipal Institute for Training and Employment (IMFE), and Promálaga. The Mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, attended the event, accompanied by the councilors for Education and Employment Promotion, María Paz Flores, and for Innovation, Digitalization, and Investment Attraction, Alicia Izquierdo, as well as teachers and students from the participating schools.

The 'Entrepreneurial Culture' workshop program for this academic year has involved more than 1.400 students from 54 schools in Malaga and includes three award categories: 'Best Business Idea', aimed at 4th year ESO (secondary school) and Bachillerato (pre-university) students; 'The Happiness Machine', for 5th and 6th grade primary school students; and 'Smart City', for 1st and 2nd year ESO students. The awards ceremony was hosted by facilitator Olga Reus Prieto.

Best Business Idea

The Best Business Idea award is developed through a workshop that offers students mechanisms and strategies to encourage entrepreneurial activity, as well as the basic techniques of creating a business project focused on the labor market, and finally, to present it in an audiovisual presentation that takes into account innovation, investment in Malaga and the objectives of sustainable development.

The winning team was from IES Jardines de Puerta Oscura, made up of Julia Elisa Calderón García, Salamata Ouedraogo Kone and Ainara Rodríguez Gil, for the 'Lector Plus VR' project, which offers reading help to people who suffer from dyslexia.

This year's competition saw the participation of 754 students from 28 schools, and a total of 187 videos showcasing business ideas were received. In addition to the winning team, the other finalist projects were: 'CryoMorph', from CDP León XIII, which develops waterless cooling systems for AI servers; 'Cooking for Others', which connects young people who want to learn traditional recipes in exchange for spending time with and learning from older people, from CDP Madre Asunción; 'Filomá', a company that creates animal-friendly fireworks, from IES Manuel Alcántara; 'Petally', an app that facilitates pet adoption; and 'Echoes', an immersive reading app that recreates history in real-world locations, from CDP Santa Madre Sacramento.

'Teenbizz'

The 'Teenbizz' educational program, a joint initiative of the Education Department and the municipal company Promálaga, has once again featured the 'Happiness Machine' and 'Smart City' workshops. These workshops, aimed at 5th and 6th grade primary school students and 1st and 2nd year secondary school students, respectively, resulted in the submission of 108 videos. Each participating school submitted an explanatory video of the model they created in the workshop, which was then put to an online vote at www.teenbizz.es. The workshops concluded in February with the participation of 731 students from 26 schools in Málaga.

The Happiness Machine seeks to develop creativity and teamwork by creating prototypes that promote people's happiness, while Smart City aims to raise awareness about the importance of sustainable cities by promoting projects that improve the quality of urban life.

The winner of the 'Happiness Machine' award was the 'Love Car' project, a vehicle that delivers positive messages to make people feel better, from the Misioneras Cruzadas school. Meanwhile, the winning 'Smart City' project was 'The Decisive Screen' from the IES Nuestra Señora de la Victoria, an AI application that helps with decision-making.

The centers participating in 'The Happiness Machine' were: CEIP Ciudad de Mobile, CDP Ciudad de los Niños, CEIP Cupiana, CEIP Francisco de Quevedo, CEIP Intelhorce, CEIP Jábega, CEIP Julio Caro Baroja, CEIP Luis Cernuda, CEIP Manuel Garvayo, CDP Misioneras Cruzadas de la Iglesia, CEIP Neill, CEIP Pintor Revello de Toro and CEIP Salvador Rueda.
