The Digital Content Pole and the Joly Group present the first edition of the Málaga Hoy-Polo Digital Indies Video Game Awards

The Councilor for Innovation and New Technologies of the City Council, Mario Cortés, and the director of the newspaper Málaga Hoy, Antonio Méndez have presented this morning the first edition of the National Indies Video Game Contest 2018, Promoted by Málaga Hoy and with the support of Promálaga and the Digital Content Pole.

This contest, the first of these characteristics held in Andalusia, aims to consolidate itself as a national reference for the development of the digital entertainment industry. This objective marks the policies that they develop, both of the Malaga City Council and the Joly Group newspaper, in favor of innovation through video games.

To participate, video games submitted to the contest must have a number of features. First of all they must be developed in Spain and be indies, that is, they have to be independent video games created by small groups of developers. If the videogame studio is already established, it must have at least one freelancer to receive the prize.

In the case of companies that submit videogames to the contest, they must not be more than 3 years old, do not exceed ten people in the workforce and invoice less than three hundred thousand euros per year.

The jury of the first edition of the Indies Video Game Awards Málaga Hoy- Polo Digital is made up of Antonio Quirós, coordinator of the Digital Polo; Manuel Donoso from Malaga Today; Curro Rueda, CTO of Genera Games; Javier and Miguel Ramos of Gamepolis and José Manuel Ezquerra of CodeSpace, Luis Olivan of the Association of Spanish Video Game Developers and Rodolfo Tiessler of Go2Work of Málaga, among others.

The first edition of the Málaga Hoy-Polo Digital Indies Video Game Awards has Genera Games, CodeSpace and Gamepolis as Golden sponsors; HRCS, Fresco Film, Ideanto and Universidad de Málaga as Silver sponsors and Vicente Ortiz & Co, Medina Media and Atlas Informática as Bronze sponsors. In addition, this first edition has the collaboration of DEV (Spanish Video Game Development)

The deadline for the presentation of video games begins today, May 10, and will be open until June 5. The 15 of the same month will present the finalist games in a Demo Day that will be held at the Digital Content Pole and the June 26 will give the prizes to the winners.

These prizes are endowed with € 6.000, € 3.000, € 1.500 for first, second and third positions respectively; and three accésits for a year of free stay at the Digital Pole.

The contest rules can now be consulted on the Polo Digital website www.premiosindies.com Participants must provide, at the time of registration for the contest, the necessary components to be able to test the video game, either by URL or access link, compressed file, downloadable app, or specific reference for its execution in the email awardsindies@polodigital.eu. In addition, a hashtag #PremiosIndiesMLG has been created to disseminate the awards on social networks.
