Malaga, May 14, 2025.- The through Promálaga, a municipal company belonging to the Department of Innovation, Digitalization and Investment Attraction, has obtained European funding for the European MED4REGEN project (MEDiterranean 4 REGENerative Tourism and Culture), an initiative that seeks to create a framework for Collaboration between cultural heritage and tourism companies with the aim of promoting and disseminating sustainability values.
Among the main objectives is the creation of programs of Development for the different categories of agents involved, museums and heritage sites, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and local governments.
The approved project belongs to the Interreg Euro-MED call, to which 167 proposals were submitted, of which 23 were approved (including the consortium that includes Promálaga).
The budget for this project exceeds two million euros., 80% funded by the European Union through the Interreg EuroMed programme, with €265.998 allocated to Promálaga. The project has a 30-month implementation period, starting this month and until the end of 2027.
Museums, and heritage sites in particular, play a key role. crucial role in the process of cultural transformationThe International Council of Museums (ICOM) defines these spaces as diverse experiences for education, knowledge sharing, and concepts and values such as accessibility, inclusion, diversity, community engagement, and sustainability.
According to this program, the result of this vision is the creation of an ecosystem in which museums and heritage organizations will become Cultural centers that will promote collaborative projects between cultural institutions, SMEs and local administrations.
The coordinator of the MED4REGEN project is the Veneto region in Italy and the participating countries are: Italy through the University of Venice, Spain through Promálaga, Slovenia with the Museum of Architecture and Design of Ljubljana, Bosnia Herzegovina with the University of Sarajevo, Croatia with the Split Tourist Board, Greece with the Epirus Region and France with the Open Tourism Lab of Nimes.
