The XXIV edition will take place on May 24 and 25 at the Digital Content Center of Malaga
On May 24 and 25, the XXIV International Congress of Journalism, entitled “Post-Journalism. Between the real and virtual”, in the Digital Content Center and in the Collection of the Russian Museum of Saint Petersburg, Málaga, in the Tabacalera Building.
The congress will feature conferences by Spanish and international specialists and communications by researchers and journalism professionals. Specifically, James Breiner, Innovation in journalism consultant, will be in charge of holding the inaugural conference on the 24th. In the afternoon, a round table will be held, with the participation of Encarna Samitier, director of 20 Minutos; Antonio Rubio, director of the research master's program at El Mundo, and Pablo A. Iglesias, information director at Servimedia.
The closing conference of the congress will be given by Alfredo Triviño, media consultant and founder of Audacity partners, on Friday the 25th. That same afternoon, workshops will be held at the Digital Pole focused on learning about the production process of digital content, from virtual reality, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, 3D printing or video games, etc; as well as the opportunities that all of them offer to journalism and communication companies. The participants in the congress will be able to exchange experiences and reflections with the companies and developers of digital content installed in the congress venue.
This congress will open an academic and professional debate that aims to rediscover the essence of journalism and the new challenges faced by the media and journalistic practice in the digital age.
The XXIV International Congress SEP'18 has been organized thanks to the collaboration of the Spanish Journalistic Society, the Malaga City Council, Promalaga, the Office of the Vice President for Research and Transfer of the University of Malaga, the Digital Content Pole, the Collection of the Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg -Málaga, Caja Rural del Sur, El Sol de Antequera and Cervezas San Miguel. In addition, it is part of the activities of the Chair of Interactivity and Design of Experiences of the Network of Strategic Chairs of the University of Malaga.
