Objectives

Digital Innovation for Blue Enterprises and Social Tourism (DIBEST) is a transnational collaborative project that supports a network of blue economy microenterprises, using a triple helix model of business partner, university and tourism federation.

DIBEST's main partner is the Western Development Commission and the four participating countries are Ireland, France, Portugal and Spain.

The focus of this project is to provide the tools to implement digitalization practices, more sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism within each region.

80 micro-businesses from across the network will be chosen to participate in this project and will be provided with a set of knowledge and training based on their specific needs and readiness for digitalization. The objective is for these companies to implement the most relevant technologies (online sales, data analysis, automation, cybersecurity...) to increase their competitiveness and environmental sustainability. This will be achieved through a series of activities such as training seminars, mentoring, coaching, community events and familiarization trips.

A knowledge repository will be created and disseminated on various platforms and made available to all tourism professionals across Europe, as well as higher education institutions.

DIBEST will accelerate an effective transition towards sustainable tourism management in terms and flow in destinations already committed to sustainable development goals.

In addition to Promálaga, the University of Málaga, Málaga TechPark and the Galician Association of Nautical Activities (AGAN) also participate representing our country. Over the next 3 years and together with other countries we will work to improve the innovation and digital capabilities of SMEs in the tourism sector and the blue economy in the Atlantic coastal region.
