Objectives

The audiovisual sector, like so many others, generates an environmental impact in its production and distribution processes that could be significantly reduced by establishing common "greener" standards and policies and, therefore, less aggressive with our environment.

Green Screen focuses on this sector and is one of a series of European projects aimed at reducing this environmental footprint, through the collaboration of different countries and groups in the search for policies and measures that represent a significant change in the medium and long term.

EXPECTED RESULTS AND MEASURES TO IMPLEMENT

Information

  • Compilation and study of success stories in similar projects in other sectors, as a point of reference.
  • Advice from experts from the regions who have had experience with environmental practices.
  • Identification of the best practices to be implemented through the exchange of experiences, workshops and research, together with all the agents that are part of the sector.

awareness

  • Creation of training programs for film schools and other related disciplines.
  • Contact with politicians and institutions for the promotion of awareness campaigns and promotional events with political and industry leaders.

Action

  • Contact with companies in the sector, promoting the contracting of services of those that meet the objectives set.
  • Development of a calculator to measure Carbon (CO2).
  • Creation of a certification system (Green-certificate) for companies and producers that comply with the established sustainable measures.
  • Introduction of changes in regional policies that affect the sector and capacity building in organizations associated with training.
  • Development of a training program for film schools and creation of links with them to ensure the integration of the measures in the curriculum.
  • Identification and communication of savings achieved by productions that work sustainably.
  • Creation of a Manual of Good Practices in the cinema that serves as a guide for companies that want to join this initiative.

This project, led by Film London, was born from a similar project called Interreg IVC (euroscreen.org), for filming / screen tourism and has 7 European partners and the co-financing of the Structural Funds (FEDER) of the OPERATING PROGRAM. With a total budget of 2,2 million euros for a period of 5 years.
